Having an online presence is very essential for businesses today. A research done by HootSuite and We Are Social in 2019, indicated that there were 4.39 billion internet users globally. This insinuates that there is a wide pool of audiences out there for businesses to reach online. There are various ways and numerous tools that can be used to achieve this. In this post, I will be focusing on four essential areas to consider when starting this journey.
Before I jump into it, I would like to talk briefly about the most essential step to be considered at the beginning of every journey, which is planning. Your plan is a roadmap to your big picture. We can relate this to a puzzle. In order to get the full picture of a puzzle, you have to put together all the smaller pieces. In a likewise manner, you would have to put together your resources and all other avenues in order to make this dream happen. Start by doing some research, understand your targets, and who your customers are, and make sure your goals are in line with your overall business objectives.
- Google My business
Google My business is a simple tool to start with. With Google My Business, you can gain visibility on Google Maps and Google Search. With this platform, you can even create a very simple website for your business. This gives you a very basic site, but that could be something to start with. I would however not recommend it. By having a Google map listing, people who search for your business or topics related to what your business does would be able to find your location and can even navigate using Google maps to your site. This can really help boost offline sales for your business. Another very interesting feature is the text messaging feature, which can help you interact with your users through text messages sent directly to your phone.
2. Creating a Website
Having a website is a very good way to let people know more about your business. There are various Content Management Systems you could use to build your website like Wordpress, Wix, HubSpot's CMS without necessarily having to know how to code. You can however outsource this to a professional.
3. SEO
Search Engine Optimisation is very essential for online visibility. To have effective SEO, you should have your website properly built and good content on your site as well. Outsourcing this to a professional could be very helpful if you do not have enough time to do this by yourself. Effectively doing SEO, would help with your Google ranking, which will in return help your business grow enormously.
4. Explore other online marketing channels
There several other channels and avenues you can explore to market your business online such as social media marketing (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.), email marketing, affiliate marketing, display advertising, and others. Having a social media presence is very useful as the HootSuite and We are Social research done in 2019, stated that there were 3.48 billion social media users worldwide. These numbers keep growing and you should do your best not to miss out on potential customers.
I believe that these four points are worth considering and are very useful for businesses that want to be visible online. Achieving this would definitely not be overnight, but starting from somewhere is what matters. Remember to focus on your goal, invest your time and other needed resources properly, and wait patiently for your results.
